EVENT OVERVIEW

This panel discussion will highlight the rich history and revitalization of Pontchartrain Park, the first suburban subdivision built for African Americans in New Orleans. It will also provide an opportunity to meet community leaders such as Tommye Myrick (activist and owner of the JuJu Bag Cafe), Jacques Morial, and others.

Presented by the PRC's African American Heritage Preservation program, chaired by Janie Blackmon and Bridget Carter.

Forms are available in teh St. Gaberial Parish office to sign up for the Food for Famileis program.

Distributions will be on the 3rd Monday of every month  9:30 - 10:30a.m.

The Lakefront Arena Aquatic Center is now open.

The qoal of the Aquatic Center is to provide the University of New Orleans and the Community an outstanding water environment that is exceptionally clean and safe for maintaining a balanced muti-purpose schedule for recreational swimming, instructional swimming, and organized athletic competition.

An article on the 2008 J. P. Morgan Chase Community Development Competition in which the Tulane Architecture and Business team won third place is featured in the Tulane New Wave

The Tulane Architecture and Business team won THIRD prize in the national
2008 JP Morgan Chase Community Competition with their design of a Pontilly
Senior Village. This resulted in a gift of $10,000 to Pontilly to continue
with the R & D for the project.
